My almost 6-year –old son participated in his first karate tournament this weekend. It was fantastic! There must have been 200 competitors from age 5 to 55 or more performing Kata and sparring routines.

Two great things happened this week. My family participated in Ride for Heart and the 30 Class Challenge started at Retrofit. The Ride for Heart was awesome. We joined over 13,000 cyclists riding the Gardiner Expressway and the Don Valley Parkway. The energy and enthusiasm was infectious. There were all sorts of riders from the totally geared-out athletes racing the 75k route to toddlers in bike seats and youngsters on trailer bikes (my kids included), young, old and all sorts of variations of able.

The single best thing you can do for your heart and for your heath is exercise 30 minutes per day – 60 minutes for kids. For the month of June I challenge all of you, including my own family to exercise 30 minutes every single day of the month. Do anything. Just move it. Or lose it. Ride a bike. Extend a life. The life you are saving could be yours.
