I’ve wanted to be the girl on the flying trapeze since I was 4-years-old when I saw my brother’s kindergarten class do a Circus performance. My brother got to be the Ring Master. The prettiest girl in the class got to be the girl on the high wire.

A friend of mine has been completely felled by back pain. Two trips to ER, laid out flat in his bed, tons of painkillers. The docs can’t give him an exact diagnosis. They recommend rest and keeping the pain in check. In most cases, they say, back pain will resolve in a matter of days or weeks.

Today I might rephrase that statement. Health is the first requisite of happiness. Without our health we have nothing. Along with security of person and home, health is a basic human need. Health is different than fitness. But it is impossible, to maintain our good health if we do not maintain good physical fitness.
